Planning for a data centre extension

Drivers Jonas was instructed by Global Switch to obtain building and environmental permits for the extension of their site.

Our mission consisted of:

• Designing a negotiation strategy, on the basis of the work already carried out with the local and governmental authorities;
• Managing the consultant team to gather all the necessary documents to obtain a rapid backing of permits;
• Negotiating the level of planning taxes and an update of the extension initially planned with the town, within the shortest period of time; and
• Lobbying local and governmental authorities so that both permits were delivered quickly.
  

Thanks to a sharp analysis of the implications of the scheme for the town, we managed to convince the town to accept a reduction of the initial planned tax levels. By exploring the legal technicalities we allowed our client to save a fair amount in planning costs.

The key point of our service was our ability to convince the city council to adopt our working timeline, and commit to grant planning consent in a very short time.

The project is now continuing with the filing of an environmental permit to the Governmental Agency for the Environment.

Global Switch has since instructed Drivers Jonas for a similar mission in Madrid.
